Bridge 1 complete - Nov 2021!

The next addition to the Chambers Creek Regional Park is the development of the newest trailhead, the Chambers Creek Canyon Trail system. There are two unconnected segments at this time Lower and Upper Canyon Trails. As of November 2021, the first Bridge on the trail was completed. See Trail Map

The Chambers Creek Canyon Trail system will bring greater access to the most wild portion of the park that currently does not have continuous trails. The project adds four bridges and 1,900 feet of boardwalk to allow safe access to the creek area. Chambers Creek Foundation (CCF) was instrumental in getting the million dollar federal grant needed to initiate this project and has already pledged $10,000 as well as 1,000 volunteer hours. CCF is working jointly with our key partners to complete this project. Our partners include: City of Lakewood, City of University Place, Foothill Trail Association, Lakewood Partners for Parks, Washington Trails Association and Pierce County Parks.

Phase 2: Kobayashi Park in University Place including a bridge spanning Chambers Creek. - 100% Funded

Phase 3: From below Kobayashi Park trail to the 86th Ave W trailhead in University Place including one bridge and 1,900 feet of boardwalk.

Phase 4: From 86th Ave trailhead to the dam at Chambers Bay Road, including Bridge #3 and Bridge #4 over Chambers Creek Road West connecting to the rest of the Park. This phase is currently unfunded but is on the Pierce County Parks Pros Plan for 2020 - 2030.
